I also loved how Luella turned all his friends to her side, and he was left ganged up on. His relationship with Luella is exactly how you think it will be at the beginning, but her tenacity and sharp tongue win out in the end. Not in the same ways I’ve fallen for Elise’s other male characters. While I did like his character and how he and Luella grew closer, there was something about him that didn’t make me fall totally in love with him. I liked him, and I’m all for moody fantastical beings, but I kind of wish he’d been angsty-er. She was strong, loving, defiant – she knew her worth and was willing to do whatever she could to protect the people she loves.
Regardless, I still really, really enjoyed it. I liked the relationship, but I’m currently totally wrapped up in the NA Spicy High Fantasy genre right now, and I assumed that The Deal with the Elf King was going to be along the same lines. I will also say, that I kind of wished it had been a little spicier. I will admit that it started a tad slow, but once it picked up, I was fully invested and read most of it in one sitting. I fell in love like I do with all her books. So of course, when this hit my Kindle I immediately started reading it, how could I not?
